About Bonten

Bonten is a Japanese Wadaiko Group, formed in 1999 by members of the “Mirai Taiko Dojo” organized by Masataka Kobayashi. Made their stage debut at the “Dai-Kyo Matsuri” in Takanosu-machi, Akita Prefecture in August 2000. In 2001, they began performing live, and have been creating colorful music with their own unique sound and worldview, using mainly Japanese drums, but also shinobue, shakuhachi, shamisen, koto, and piano. In addition to performing both in Japan and overseas, he has supported a wide range of artists on stage, from J-Pop to classical music and kabuki.

Bonten has also performed many times overseas and has a growing fan base in the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia. He has released 6 albums and more than 50 original songs, and has provided music for various stages.
